Home Cleaning of the river Zubra

Zubra has its origins in the southern outskirts of city - near Sikhovthe and village Kozelniky. Somewhere in here is the center of East European watershed. When she was really crystal clear, and its name speaks for itself: in this area were carried bison. The names of other surrounding villages and localities also indicate their "forest" of origin: Lisinichi, Volkov, Sokilniki, Kozelniky, Vedmezha ... The explanation is quite simple: from Lipnick and pulled up to the Dniester large tracts of forests. In ancient times, they belonged to the noble owners - the princes, nobility, monasteries and were used as hunting grounds, and therefore fairly well preserved. Now, these forests are in the green zone of the city and should provide oxygen Lviv and the surrounding densely populated area. Unfortunately, the forest began to massively destroy. In the valley of the Zubra, a different temperature and humidity. Zubra Valley is remarkably well preserved. Valley surrounded by hills, which on the upper slopes of forested, and from the lower depths of limestone outcrops, sand and chalk - such rocks, on which grow rare species of plants listed in the Red Book. They just do not have another place to live, because it demand of the chemical elements, a special moisture, so these slopes and flood plains should be preserved - no plow, no build up
Zubra is polluted in Lviv, flowing through the flooded village Podtemnoe is cleared. It is at this point ends Lviv plateau and begins Opole, which extends up to the Dniester. Traveling to the Zubra Valley road leads us to the village Rakovets. It is as if squeezed in the mountains between the valley and, therefore, quite interesting. Rakovets has two suburbs: one down the river and the second - up the river. This city was much more than a little Volkov and two names: Rakovets (from the fact that here were carried out crayfish) or Mlynivtsi, for once at the Zubra had a lot of windmills. In its upper part of planistichnogo hand it has been preserved the way it was in Austria, but the first written mention of it dates from the 1466 year is clear that a settlement existed here before. In Rakovtse was a castle, probably in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. On it is a written document, but it is now difficult to determine its location. This castle, like so many others, not very powerful, was also destroyed. In the late XIX - early XX century by the architect Nagorny built a wooden church on the Rakovets's walls . The architect revived Ukrainian style in stone and wood in architecture. The church is an ancient graveyard with perennial oaks, larches, pines. Now Rakovets more known for its medicinal spring, the church of the Maccabees, which is located on a forest hill not far from this source, the annual honey, folklore, festivals, hunting.
